Vacancy - Project Officer at EFFoST

We are seeking a passionate food scientist or technologist who will be required to divide their time between the EU-funded projects in which EFFoST is involved.

The European Federation of Food Science and Technology (EFFoST) facilitates the knowledge and technology exchange among food professionals. EFFoST creates opportunities for food scientist, engineers, technologists, policymakers and businesses in food and food-related areas to connect and collaborate with the objective to enhance the uptake of new technologies and developments. By supporting the further development of food science and technology, EFFoST aims to advance the production of sustainable and healthy food for all in a changing world.

We do this through our yearly Conference, our network of members and the Working Groups connected to EFFoST. Furthermore, EFFoST participates in food-related EU-funded projects, where we are responsible for the dissemination of the knowledge gained in these projects, stakeholder management and exploitation. We are sustaining and creating a European network for knowledge transfer and use our existing network of food science and technology professionals to promote the project outcomes. The project topics range from the development of advanced technologies to impacting society by supporting small and medium-sized companies with innovation.

We are looking for a Project Officer.  A passionate food scientist or technologist who will be required to divide his/her time between the EU funded projects. As part of a team of 7 people working at different levels on each project, you will operate in a dynamic international environment and have significant opportunity for project related travel within Europe. You like to work in multi-disciplinary projects and you have the appropriate scientific background to undertake some of the scientific tasks within these projects.

Activities:

  • Research food science and technology trends, markets and new developments;
  • Disseminate project outcomes on different levels (e.g. industry workshops, academic conferences, social media, traditional media);
  • Organize different events for the transfer of knowledge;
  • Write and edit articles for various media (online media, trade magazines, peer-reviewed etc.);
  • Communicate project results at meetings and in written reports;
  • Build networks of stakeholders (academics, industry, etc.);
  • Assist in the development of exploitation and business plans;
  • Assist in the administrative and financial tasks within EU projects;
  • Support the acquisition and creation of new EU projects;
  • Support the Membership and Working Groups stakeholder engagement.

We ask

  • MSc in food science and technology or a relevant academic field;
  • 4+ years relevant working experience;
  • Experience in working in multi-disciplinary or international project teams;
  • Good oral and written communication skills;
  • Very good knowledge of English, both orally and in writing;
  • You can work well independently but are also a keen team player;
  • Flexible, organised and able to manage multiple tasks;
  • Willingness to travel.

We offer

  • A fixed-term contract with a working time of 36 hours per week;
  • An attractive remuneration package will be offered to suitable candidates, with a salary indication between € 3.300 and € 4.300 (depending on education and experience), excluding 8% holiday allowance;
  • 144 hours statutory holiday hours plus 36 additional holiday hours;
  • Contract period: 1-year contract, with the intention to extend;
  • The possibility for hybrid working (minimum of 2 days at the office);
  • Contribution to the ABP pension fund.
